Kia ora! My name is Debby Murphy and I'm originally from Birkenhead in the UK. I moved to New Zealand in 2009, first living in Christchurch, then in Auckland. In 2016, and then a proud 'kiwi', I moved to the pretty seaside town of Picton in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds with my wife, Tonya, and our fur babies: Oscar George [cat] and Miley [black labrador]. Tonya and I were married - twice - by a wonderful celebrant, Helen Rutledge. Once the law was changed in NZ to allow same-sex marriages, we took no time at all in arranging for our 'upgrade'! What I enjoyed about being married by a celebrant was the absolute freedom and creativity to craft a ceremony that was special and unique to us. This prompted me to also become a celebrant in Picton and I am now a member of the NZ Celebrants Association conducting opposite-sex and same-sex weddings, funerals and ceremonies for all types of life celebrations. As with many celebrants, I have another job. I am an Osteopath and have a clinic in Picton, Tonya and I also have our Wedding Package business, which allows us to design and coordinate intimate and unique weddings for couples who wish to take full advantage of the majesty of the Marlborough Sounds.
